My Top Ten TV Moments for 2014
There are those moments in TV that burn in our minds that we can never forget. For some reason they stir up emotions that we never knew we had. It is the big visual aide to life like we never thought about or it just made you laugh. For what ever reason it's a classic moment in your TV history, these are mine.
1) Look at the Flowers
This disturbed child was being lead to her execution. I was thinking about Carol and Sophia and the way that ended when Sophia came out of Hershel's barn in season 2 as a walker after they had been searching for her for so long. I have no words for Lizzie. She was a messed up innocent kid that saw the Zombie Apocalypse as a rebirth for everyone. Did this represent a child's way of dealing with the horror of what happened. This happened in the episode called "The Grove" Season 4 episode 14. Carols heart breaking execution, escorting Lizzie to her death gave me chills and broke my heart for the child and made me forget how disturbed Lizzie was. I wanted to rescue Lizzie but knew it was wrong.
2) The Death of Beth Green
Beth Green was the youngest and most innocent of Hershel Green's Daughters, She was not one of the big time favorite characters but she was sweet and very kind.
I wrote this in a earlier blog post
Beth was a very lovable character, she started out in a very dark place in her life when we first saw her in the second episode of Season Two episode called "Bloodletting". She was not a secure person and had major emotional issues dealing with the new world. But she became stronger as the series went on. She became the bright spot of the group when everything was doom and gloom. It seemed she loved and trusted everyone she was around. She never said no when she was directed to do a task.

Beth Green Death scene took place in Episode 8 of Season 5 titled "Coda"
3) Emily Kinney's interview on the Talking Dead
It is apparent that the cast and crew of the Walking Dead are like a close net family. In a interview with her on the Talking Dead Emily becomes emotional when talking about the day when the episode was filmed.
4) King Joffrey Dies
I don't know any character that was ever more hated then King Joffery from "The Game of Thrones" in the Purple Wedding. I hated him every time I saw his face on the screen. While I enjoyed watching him die, I wanted a more traumatic and dramatic death scene, but it would not go with the story line that was written.
5) The Mountain Kills The Red Viper
I was sure that the Red Viper was going to win, I just felt that some way he would win. No Matter how many times the writers had surprised me in other episodes. But again I was stunned when the Mountain squeezed his head until his eyes popped out. Game of Thrones never disappoints even when your jaw hits the floor in surprise of a event
6) Avery and Juliett get Married on Nashville
This is kind of sappy I know, but to me this is saying no matter how bad the storm is there is always hope for a better tomorrow. Ok so this marriage may end in sorrow as most TV marriages do.
But for one moment in time, things where good and sunshine found it's way past the storm clouds.
7) NCIS: I Love You Dad
In the Christmas episode, 10th of Season 12, McGee is writing a letter to his Dad. What you do not know is his father has passed away. McGee's letter is what I think what sons often see in there Father. Father and Sons often have this distant but close relationship. Things they don't understand get in the way of love. Anyway it was a very special episode.
8) Phillip and Elizabeth Jennings fight for the family in the Americans on FX
Everything is ok and fine with Mother Russia until they try to pull the family in. This is with any parent. No matter how big the enemy is, leave our family out of it.
9) Hannibal Display of Beverly Katz
One of the most disturbing corpse scenes I have ever viewed was on NBC Hannibal.
No explanation needed just watch.
10) The Death of Elam Ferguson
There is nothing worse then killing your best friend, This episode reminded me of when Obi Wan Kenobi fought Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars Episode III. This was was much more painful, but a great episode.

I Do Not Blame Sony or Any Other Company for Being Hacked
I don't know what's going on with the people of our country, but it seems as if we are losing focus on what reality we live in. People think that if it exist it will always work or can be fixed cheaply at no cost. I was first aware of people's sense of reality during Hurricane Katrina. A storm hit and millions of people that refused to evacuate was mad that the government did not do anything like wave a magic wand and make it all better.
I know companies are greedy and if they sell it people like me will buy it. But nobody is prepared for anything to break down. Things do go wrong with out explanation. The better you make something there is someone out there trying to break it. We can be mad at the hackers, which I am cause I can not play my new video game Destiny during this network outage on my PS4, we all have a little hacker in us, but we just don't want to admit it. How many of us try to push the speed limits just to the point we don't get a ticket? How many of us fail and get a ticket. How many of us try to claim as much as possible on our income taxes so we get that huge tax refund check?
People are so cozy in there warm homes, with our high speed internet and on-line games that we don't understand the world around us. We get upset with all the password protection that companies want us to use, but get upset when the hackers attack?
We need to slow down so that we can speed up. Even if we take all the precautions that we are asked to, hackers will still be there because that is what they do. I don't blame any company for being hacked but I do think they should be more honest and say we failed instead of nice sweet tweets that says we are aware of a problem.
I am also kind of somewhat glad that hackers are testing the internet fences, because some IT managers are to confident of their own Kung-Foo and don't do the work that needs to be done. I mean what is the possibility if they did it right the first time they could of prevented the hack? It really makes me mad when fans try to rush the release of a new product. I would rather wait till something is built right. I do get upset when companies give into consumer demand and put out a pile of shit instead of a well designed working product
There has been a lot of talk about the Zombie Apocalypse and how popular the genre is. I don't think we are learning anything from the TV shows and movies. Because after the crisis hits, there is no choice but to survive and no one to blame. That is the lesson, that is how it works.
This country has a problem understanding that there are enemies out there that wish to do us harm home and in foreign lands , and we need to elect leaders that understand the need for a strong military and police force and to take action when needed. However if your more worried about your wallet and your on-line video games, Just keep voting for our current leaders.
So before you get mad at Sony and other companies that are getting hacked, just asked yourself how important is it to you and why before you target your anger.

Exodus: God and Kings is Worth the Ticket Price But It's not the Bible.
Whenever a movie based on the Bible comes out of Hollywood the debate begins of how close it was to the story of the Bible, and even the best Biblical representations has problems with production or length. I think it would be impossible to give a total accurate description of any great Bible story unless the movie would be at least six hours long.
For me I enjoyed the movie, I was totally entertained by the special effects, and the over all story based on the Book of Exodus. When ever I watch a movie based on a Bible story I always tell myself they where not there when this story went down and nor was I, we only know what the writers of the Bible told us and no more. For example in the movie The Passion of the Christ directed by Mel Gibson there was one lighthearted moment when Jesus was showing his mother Mary a dinning table with chairs he created, because we all know Jesus was a carpenter, Mary laughed and said it would never happen. OK it was not in the Bible, but I have no problem giving Jesus the credit for the table and chairs, I was not there when it was created and I don't know what Jesus built when he was a carpenter and no one else does. I was not offended when that happened in the movie.
In my opinion the 1956 movie The Ten Commandments directed by Cecil B. DeMille will always be my standard of a Biblical movie, and even that movie had a few issues, but not many. it was a complete explanation of the events in the book of Exodus from the Bible. And I said it was a explanation,it was still not the Bible. If you want to understand all the events of the Ten commandments story, you will have to study the story from the Bible and not Hollywood productions.
When I left the movie last night I enjoyed it but I kept thinking to myself, Why can't I see Moses instead of Christian Bale like previous movies that he had done. In some reviews it has been said that the cast of the movie let the director down. There might be some explanation of that with a recent interview with Christian Bale from Screenrant.com
“The biggest issue was about how much you could include because [the story] is so dense, you really could make an 8-hour-length film,” Bale said of early discussions he had with Scott about the film. “You really had to make a choice about how far you went with the story. It’s called ‘Exodus‘ for a reason, it’s not called ‘Moses.’ Steve Zailian who wrote the screenplay really felt it was a story of revolution so it’s his story up through the Exodus, you can see we went up through the crossing of the Red Sea, but it was tricky.”
So was he not focused on Moses?
I am surprised by this approach from him because of his previous roles like the Batman trilogy, 3;10 to Yuma and Terminator Salvation, where he convinced me of the reality of the characters he was playing. While I was watching the movie I forgot about Christian Bale and seen Batman or what ever character he was portraying. I am thinking this is unusual for me to be seeing him this way, then Bale said this from Screenrant.com
“The very first film I rented immediately after meeting with Ridley and while I was still trying to get my head wrapped around it, thinking whether it was something that could be possible, I went and rented The Life of Brian, which is a favorite film of mine, a beautifully made film,” Bale revealed with a smile. “The point being that not only do I enjoy that film but anything where you are approaching it from a very earnest point of view can have the potential to become The Life of Brian very quickly, so it was sort of the guiding light throughout and I must confess, “Always Look on the Bright Side of Life” was kind of always humming through my head. And then after that I rented Mel Brooks’ History of the World: Part 1. You have to get it out of your system. You have to have humor with something that is as earnest as this and as heavy as this, you have to add an element of comedy during your everyday life during filming because otherwise it becomes too exhausting.”
I am sorry, I take any story from the Bible very serious, why would he start his research from a comedy? I am sure there is a better way to research a role like Moses then a comedy movie. I am sorry to say that I am disappointed in Bale looking at the role of Moses this way and it explains why the reviews say the cast let the director down and I can agree with that.
I believe when they make Biblical movies these days that the directors and producers are more interested in being politically correct and are not focused on telling a story from the Bible. I mean any thing about Jesus or the Bible is taken out of public places. The Ten Commandments has been removed from court houses across the country. How and why would we expect the" dyed in wool atheist" as Ridley Scott describes himself in a interview to make a heart felt movie from the Bible? Ridley Scott made a great movie based on a story from the Bible, not a religious family movie.
I am what most people would call a Evangelical Christian, however I am not offended at the movie because I know what I am watching I know who wrote it and directed it and I also understand the world we live in today. For me I agree with the reviews but I still enjoyed the story. I don't care how great of a actor or director you are, you can't do a Bible story unless you believe in where the story comes from

The Movie "The Christmas Heart" Is a Story of Hope For All...
Most of you that follow me on Twitter and follow my blogs know that I am a fan of anything not normal, meaning I watch movies about Zombies, Zombies and more Zombies. I also like Sci-Fi /Horror and fantasy and crime movies.
But last night I decided to watch a normal movie on the Hallmark Channel with my Mother. The main reason I decided to give this movie a chance is because the writer is from my home town of Cleveland, Ohio. From the time I have been able to read the paper I knew who Michael Heaton was. When the Friday paper came to my home, I passed the headlines and went straight to the Friday magazine. Michael is not afraid to share his opinion, but I read his articles to get a real feel about the heart of Cleveland and what was going on. No matter what bad news was going on in Cleveland he always made me feel it was going to get better. There are a lot of people that has faith in this city that we can do better. I sometimes think that Micheal is telling us how with out being bias. I am not saying I always agreed with him, but I always wanted to hear or read what he was talking about. While I have never met him in person he is a Facebook friend and has always treated me with respect even when I was being a idiot on Facebook. I truly believe in what I have read and heard of him he is a all around great guy.
In 2012 I heard he wrote a movie, I kind of ignored it because it was on Hallmark, but it did not go away because I follow Micheal on Twitter and Facebook and other colleagues of his from "The Cleveland Plain Dealer". The movie kept on popping up on my movie radar, so two years after the first showing I made a true effort to catch the movie.I am glad I did.
Back in 2008 I lost my job and while things are better they are still are not like they use to be, and these past few weeks have been just a bit harder then before. I return to my seasonal job next month, but this is Christmas. There is a lot of people that is going to have it much harder than I am, I mean much harder but stress and depression knows no boundaries.
I think the movie echoed the Cleveland story. We are a sports town and no matter how bad our teams play we never lose faith or hope. We are down but never out. Somehow we find hope in disaster. But to be clear, it is not a sports movie.
The story was about a 15 year old boy who has a heart attack and needs a heart transplant in the city of Cleveland and the miracle of the donors mother from Detroit. It's a story that if our faith is strong enough you can make it happen. We are never promised a new day, but we should live everyday we wake up like it is our last. I truly believe God only helps those that helps themselves, but there are times we just need to step aside and wait and not get in the way of something we don't understand that will rescue us in our darkest hour.
It's a story of a mother's love and a fathers support when it's most needed. You never know where the miracle may be coming from. But while the news only shows us the storms, always look for the light to lead you to your destination.
I can relate to this story. At the age of seven I had open heart surgery by the man who did the first open heart surgery in 1956 here in Cleveland, Dr. Earl B Kay at Saint Vincent Hospital. When my Mom told me how she found this Doctor when my heart problem was discovered, I was in disbelief. I was so blessed that he was my surgeon. From the way I understand it, she was at work and told a co-worker that she needed to find a heart doctor and some guy who's name she can not remember said that this doctor did surgery on his daughter and she was OK. I am now 52 and my heart is still pumping, but This is not my way of finding a doctor, but it all worked out for the best.
"The Christmas Heart" is more than a story in Cleveland, it's a story about not giving up in your darkest hour and letting a lighted path guide you to finding hope and having faith no matter how bad the storm is.

The Christmas that Zombies invaded Santa's Village at the North Pole
I wrote this 12/11, I thought I would re-post it
Just a few years ago the North Pole was invaded by Zombies and Christmas was almost canceled. But don't zombies freeze in zero temperatures? Yes they do, unless a elf makes a mistake in Santa's communication center. That is exactly what happen when the head elf was working on the time and reality capactior for Santa to manipulate time for his midnight run.
Head Elf Macky is a big TV movie buff. Anything unreal make believe, fantasy and sci-fi is what he likes. A week before Santa's big run he was in the communication center upgrading systems control and was watching TV at the same time. He was watching his favorite zombie movie when the reality manipulator had a power surge and captured data from the 100 inch Flat screen TV with a Wi-Fi connection. The device was confused with the data and it replicated what it saw on TV and created Zombies all over the North Pole surrounding Santa's Village. Because the Zombies where created by the North Pole computer and the super 3-D transporter reality printer that had not yet been debugged, they knew how to get access to the village. It was just the way it worked. The North Pole Security System would not recognize the Zombies as a threat, and allow them access before Elf Central Command (ECC) would know there was any security risk.
These Zombies where just as dangerous as the Zombies we know today. Before the ECC was alerted hundreds of Elf's where bitten and became zombies. with only 24 hours to go, Santa and the main village staff was working hard to get things ready when the emergency alert alarm sounded. This alarm had never been used since it was created. Many of them including Santa had to look up the code to see what was going on. the Code was Elf Con Five. This was the maximum alert. Meaning for the first time in History, Santa's Village was on a security threat lock down. No one was allowed to leave or come in the village. All operations came to a stand still.
Santa and top security elf's went to the lock down control room. Dust and cob webs where everywhere because this maximum security room had never been used. Santa stormed in the room and heard a briefing that even had him in disbelief. "How" he asked . He was informed of the Zombies and information was still coming in from other elf stations. He was made aware of what happened in the communcations center with head elf Macky. Santa had the the Elf Security Chief remove Macky from his post until a hearing could be held. Santa asked the question "What are our options?"
Elf Security Chief (ESC) said "what ever we do we must act ASAP". Again Santa ask "And what must we do ASAP"? "We have to mobilize the Elf Military and declare war on the Zombies until all are dead and we must use extreme prejudice when dealing with the zombies". "And what do you mean by that?" Santa ask. "We kill what we shoot" replied the ESC. "We have never used force on any life form in the North Pole" Santa said. "Oh my God! then we have already lost the war before starting it" screamed the ESC. "Don't you get it? This is not life we are dealing with here Santa this is like a virus" said the ESC. "But is not a virus life like?" ask Santa. So the ESC scratched his head and replied with this. "OK, I will give you that one. So let me suggest this then! The next time you get the flu we will let you die because you don't want to kill a virus!" it was quiet and they where losing precious time.
Santa asked ECC how much time they had left to make the run and the answer was 12 hours. He looked at the ESC and asked if it was possible. He said that they would have to start now and would need permission to use lethal Atomic Magic dust AMD. Santa said he had no ideal what that was. The ESC told him that many years ago that the high counsel decided that it would be best if Santa did not know about the dust in case of such emergencies, but as a safety concern it could not be used unless Santa give executive authorization orders to the ESC. Santa said "we will discuss the whys and how later before more elfs die ,what does it do? The ESC answered by saying it kills what ever it hits, and would be used to make the ammo that is used against the Zombies."OK" said Santa, "no more talk, this operation is hear by ordered and shall be operated under the the ECC but until further notice all ECC operations personal will report to the ESC until I order other wise"
While this was a wise decision Santa was clearly not comfortable being Commander in Chief , Santa's Headquarters never needed this type of operation in the entire history of his Village.
All over the North Pole you heard alarms and sirens and the village was in complete lock down. Santa also ordered Santa News Network to release the following statement.
Breaking News Report: SNN, we interrupt this telecast to bring you of the following emegency announcement:
In
a joint operation by Elf Central Command under the orders of the Elf
Security Chief we will enforce a emergency curfew for all of Santa's
Village and workshops. All Elf families to stay in your living quarters
until further notice. The north Pole and the Village is under attack and
if you do not follow instructions being e-mailed to you on Elf Net You
may die at the hands of the enemy and Christmas may be canceled.
The elf army took there positions and waited for the Zombies. Elf Air Force began the attack first, but with little or no results because the AMD weapons was not penetrating enough zombies. this operation was going to take hours. The war went well into midnight before the elf infantry began mobilizations. They had the best results, direct hits in the head was killing Zombies, and the Air force AMD weapons had a delayed reaction but it did finally start to kill Zombies, the dust made it to the Zombies brain. The zombies died off and the North Pole returned to normal. Military action had been called off for the most part. But the damage was done, the Christmas Eve Event was suppose to start two hours before.
Santa returned to ECC and said "what do we do?" the ESC spoke up and said we have a option, and I mean just on option" . "and?" Santa asked. The ESC said "we can alter time" , "What?" Santa asked "alter time Santa, just like I said". "Explain" said Santa.
The ESC said this " We can use the same time formula that you use for the big run because time is not a factor here at the pole as it is in other parts of the world". "That is Right" said Santa. "No one would remember except for those of us in this room So lets do it!" Said Santa. "We can't" Said the ESC. "Then why did you tell me this?" ask Santa "Well we can but the person that needs to execute the operation is under house arrest" Explained the ESC. "Macky?" ask Santa. "Yes Macky , But you would have to pardon him for it to be allowed" Explained the ESC. It was quiet in the room and Santa grated a full pardon to the former head Elf. The Elf would still have to report to a board of inquiry so that protocols could be put in place so that this type of disaster could never happen again. Macky was OK with that, because he knew he was insubordinate in his actions.
And so they put there plan in action, Loaded Santa's sleigh and no one knew that last Christmas was almost the last Christmas.

A Collection of The Walking Dead Articles about Coda, Mid-Season Finale
The events that transpired on AMC's The Walking Dead episode Coda shocked me and many more TV viewers then any other tragic event in any TV Show I have ever watched. The tragic death of Beth Green was devastating and very sad and a lot has been written about the episode. here is a collection of articles from across the web about the episode.

Beth Green: We Will Miss You
We often read in the headlines of a tragedy of a person getting killed by a single gun shot, and we hear of the anguish painful heart ache of the family. Like a mother that lost her son in war and she did not get to kiss him good bye.The father who had that distant relationship with his child and then finds out they are dead. We see crime dramatized on TV, but while it seems sad, we can not say that it was in your face. It did not fully pull at our heart strings. For me that all changed last night with the fatal shot that killed Beth Green on The Walking Dead.
I always felt her character gained strength when her and Maggie sang "The Parting Glass" in the first episode of the third season called "Seed". It was in the prison yard with the group around a camp fire. From that point Beth began to accept her role in the group in my opinion. Or at least I started to noticed her more as being a central part of the group.
There is much debate in some social network circles to what her contribution was to the group. It has been said she was not a fan favorite and if true that made her death that much more painful. Because of her innocence and child like qualities. She was the girl next door or maybe reminded you of your daughter. You loved Beth. Because she was not one of the stronger group members you wanted her to be OK. I really thought her and Daryl was going to hook up when they drank moonshine and burned the house down. When she was kidnapped I was worried for her and felt it was the end for her.
At the moment of the shot and you seen the blood come out of her head I felt like a loved one died. when you saw her head fall back you knew it was over. For just a second I saw my daughter who looks nothing like Beth in her place and tears started to flow down my face. My heart sank and it was like getting that phone call in the middle of the night that someone you love has died, this hurt the same way because you witnessed the death yourself. This was unlike any character death in any TV series ever. It was even predicted that she would be killed off But your still not ready for it. I think this was even worse then Hershel's death, even though that was very dramatic and sad, Beth represented the death of innocence more some how.I just can' explain it.
Beth Green was that sunshine on the cloudiest of days. She was that smile when you needed it most. She made you laugh when you was sad. She always had a hug where there was none. She was the last of her family for her sister. She was the path back to the light when the group went down a dark path.
Beth Green Will be Missed
