Into the World of LOST: Jack and John Locke

As I am watching the series again for the forth or fifth time, I am catching on to things that I just never understood before. John Locke was always looking for approval, always wanted to be accepted for his faith and what he believed was going to happen. But no one would give him that satisfaction. His father or co-workers, and he even reached out to a lady on a call service. He always said "Don't tell me what I can't do" . He truly believed that your limitations was just a excuse not to live, even when he was confined to a wheel chair before the crash.

Jack believed there was nothing you could not fix, but he was never able to fix what mattered most. He worked on a patient in the hospital that his father started but was not able to finish because he was under the influence. I truly believe the only reason he turned his father in was he wanted to fix the problem for the hospital. He could not fix the patient, but he could make this right. He did not give up on the patient because he wanted to fix his fathers mistake. He wanted to move to the caves because there was water and it seemed safe and everyone was closer together, he wanted to fix the discord among the people. He did not want to be the leader, but everyone went to him to lead

Jack and Locke worked together but while Locke may have trusted Jack, Jack never listened to Locke and fought him every step of the way. Jack wanted to fix and Locke wanted to have faith and let the problem fix it's self. It makes sense how the series ended, in Locke becoming the smoke monster and Jack knowing the soul of the monster. They killed each other if you think about it. You could almost say that the destiny that Locke always talked about was about the end story for Jack and Locke.

Locke was always wanting Jack acceptance from season one, he gave up and attempted to hang himself, but he failed, when he decided to live Ben Linus killed him because he knew what John would become if he got Jack to take the body back to the island. It was the way life worked on the island, it was part of the secret of the island, and Ben knew a lot of secrets.

But it was meant for Locke to die and and face off against Jack, In the end Jack was the one that had to leave science behind and have faith, other wise he would not have beaten Locke. But my question is did Jack find faith to late and because he waited so long  he died on the island? According to what his father said in the final episode , not everyone died on the island, some did make it home to live out their lives. I think the story of Lost is about Destiny and getting it right. Would it not be interesting if your destiny was wrong and you crash on a island? Every character on the show had their issues with destiny

What if the Island of Lost was a X-File?

Like many I am a fan of both the ABC popular series LOST from 2004 and X-Files from FOX in 1993. However to dig in to the mythology and mystery of both series, would it not be interesting if the island of LOST was a investigation by the the X-Files unit of the FBI? This could be a interesting crossover for both series in the Sy-Fy Genres.

At the end of LOST we had both Hugo Reyes and Ben Linus in charge of the Island. What if Mulder and Scully caught up with the two while they where here on the main land to ask questions about what really happen to Oceanic Flight 815. What if Hugo and Ben end up taking the X-Files team to the Island?

What would happen in the investigation? Would this be the end of the X-Files team, would they find answers that fans did not know or did not want to know. Would it be aliens or something that is bigger then anyone could imagine?

Endless amounts of questions a fan could only dream of.

Marvels Agent Carter, Very Smart TV

Last Tuesday night I watched the two hour premier of a seven part series Agent Carter, and I was entertained. This was a smart compelling story and You felt the presence of Stan Lee. And for a first episode, you did not have that long overdrawn introduction of who the characters are and felt the need to build a relationship with them. Yes it is true we know who Agent Carter is from the Captain America movies, but they did not spend a lot of time in building the story, it was already there but not really.

Obviously Agent Carter and a show like HBO's Game of Thrones is very different, but like Game of Thrones it is not over powered by the Sci-Fi /Fantasy genre, but we know it's there. I got the feeling this is going to be the story of what happen to Agent Carter after Captain American. Now you may read this and say no kidding, but do you remember when Marvel Agents of Shield started? In the beginning I could not figure out where the show was going and almost gave up on the show till after it's mid season break in it's first season. Agent Carter TV series, like Agents of Shield will be part of the whole Avengers story line.

With only watching one episode, I am sorry that it's only going to be a seven part series, but I am glad they are doing that so they don't wear out it's welcome by making episodes just to make episodes. But I will catch all of the series and I hope everyone else will too.

I am also hoping to see more Marvel spin offs. Why? well Law and Order worked on NBC, CSI and NCIS works for CBS, so why not more Sci-Fi on ABC. I think LOST 2004-2010 started it all for ABC. And after only 6 seasons ABC learned there lessons about making episodes to make episodes, but the series was very popular and then came ONCE. In most cases networks are learning to make a story instead of having a weekly series. However I still enjoy the weekly old fashion detective show and if the writing is good, there is no problem keeping that type of series around.

Letting Your Imagination Go In Your Favorite TV Show

Sometimes I join a TV fan page of one of my favorite TV shows. I am overwhelmed and amazed how every part of a show can be analyzed. I was on a Walking Dead fan page and the discussion was about how Daryl Dixon hugged Carol Peletier after they had been apart for a while. Was it friendship, sexual or parenteral? I never thought of it that deep myself. My thought was they where close friends and where glad to see each other.

I also remember LOST from ABC, That show has been gone for 4 years and people are still asking questions of how it ended and what it meant. it's as if the island is real and something was left behind. I read some of what fans are asking and thinking and I have to ask myself, is the island real? It's like fairy tales for adults. Speaking of fairy tales for adults, what about Once on ABC, has that just not screwed up our child hood dreams? I guess there was never no happy ever after. 

But in the real world we live in, I am glad that people can let their imagination go and leave behind this world and go to their happy place no matter if it is a place of horror or fairy tails gone wrong. And it does not have to be horror syfy or fantasy, it can be a serious drama like a detective show. If the writers are creative enough we can always search for answers that we may never get answered.

I thinks it great when the writers can always keep us guessing as if we live with our favorite characters and know them personally. Because our real problems will always be waiting for us. The only thing that gets to me is when the fan is stuck their in the show and won't come back to reality and take it so personally. I mean this is for fun right? Sometimes I think that the writers and producers that came up with their productions have killed the daytime soap opera. Compare the daytime soap opera writing with the shows we now watch. Even the SyFy drama seems more realistic then what happens in a daytime soap, and that is what gets our imagination. We talk more about our TV shows then our own family. I hear people talk more about prime times shows then soap operas.

But no matter, we love good TV even more then we ever did and we are involved, we are there when are favorite character dies, we cry and mourn their loss. And when that final episode of the series happens we leave them behind but go back with our DVD collections and Netflix, I see no problem in letting go and visiting another reality. Just make sure you come back.

The Walking Dead Vs Z Nation: PLEASE SHUT UP!

Well there is a new Zombie series on SyFy Cable network called Z Nation, and while it may have a few short comings it's not that bad of a show. No it's not the same as The Walking Dead. However there is a very vocal debate on the social media outlets calling it blasphemy to watch Z Nation if your a Walking Dead fan. OH PLEASE! I am a fan of TV shows and what I chose to watch is my business. If the quality of Z Nation was anything close to what The Walking has given us, people would be swearing they copied the show. It is still a free country and we are free to watch and like what we want till they cancel the show. 

For those of us that have forgotten, not everyone's imagination is not the same as mine or yours. I welcome new story ideals and shows. Look how many popular detective shows are out there, and fantasy/horror is finally getting a hold on main stream TV. OK, some may be not so well written, I get that. I lose interest myself in some shows, but I don't lose interest in a detective show because I am a fan of the popular CBS franchise C.S.I

Lets not forget that the 1966 soap opera Dark Shadows on ABC is the one that started the ball rolling on Fantasy/horror TV series. Networks have been competing with networks for decades. Networks have tried and failed to copy a genre over and over again. Look at the ABC Network 2004 series LOST, how many times have other networks tried to copy that ideal of you never really know whats going on in the show?

You always knew where a network got the inspiration for a series, but really never cared. I always give a new show a chance. If I liked it I watched it, if I did not I changed the channel. But TV is not religion.I don't stop watching a cop show on NBC because they have a cop show on CBS, so I will not stop watching a Zombie show on SyFy because I  like the one on AMC more. I have never heard such backlash on a TV series since 1981, when ABC premiered night time series Dynasty to compete with CBS 1978 series Dallas, and that was before the internet and social media.

What we could do with out is all this reality TV programming like Honey Boo Boo, Jersey Shore and Keeping up with the Kardashians. However they do have a audience, but I chose not to watch. But that is my choice. I just don't want that to be the only choices on TV.
