VIDEO GAME REVIEW: Wolfenstein:The New Order

RELEASE DATE: May 20 2014

DIRECTORS: Jerk Gutafsson, Tom Keegan,

WRITERS: Jerk Gutafasson,Tom Keegan, Jim Matthies, Tommy Tordsson, Andreas Ojerfors

Imdb Synopsis

After regaining consciousness following an injury sustained in World War II, an American soldier awakens to a Nazi dominated world in the 1960s.

WHAT I LIKED:

For me I like a good story, and this had a deep movie like quality about it. If you listen to all the conversations you can find your way through the game fast. This game takes me from the real world and back in time to a make believe world. Very creative, great grand vivid game play graphics. I enjoyed the flashback dream game play parts that allowed you to go back to the original 8 bit game play on earlier game systems

WHAT I DID NOT LIKE:

In some parts of the game play I felt like a messenger boy, to get parts or files for the next mission in side the base the group was hiding from Nazis. I did not understand how I did not get caught and lead the Nazis back to the base because of the tech the Nazis used for security reasons

Game has a MATURE 17+ ESRB rating, well deserved, foul language and a couple sex scenes

This game is a keeper, I will play it many times. game also comes with a invite to DOOM beta.

FOUR STAR RATING 3 out of 4 stars, lost a star because of dislikes

Destiny Was Not My Type of Video Game: I was Disappointed

Maybe I am to old or just don't think like the rest. I only have 10 games in my game collection. That is. because of money, and when I pick a game I have to stress about it for weeks before I make up my mind. Destiny was a impulse buy, because many people I trust was telling me I had to get this game, it's great and wonderful, you can do this and that. They did not lie, there are tons of options in the game. But I still like the one shooters like Call of Duty, Wolfenstein: The New Order, Need for Speed and a good Zombie Game.

While Destiny is awesome for most people I hope that type of game format don't take over like reality TV programs did on network TV did for a while. The big money thing can burn out and lose interest and destroy the fun for all.

I tried to get in to Destiny, but I just got bored and went back to playing my type of games. For me it was just to much and no central goal except to up your level. There is never a end to the game, it just goes on and on. For most of my friends, they love that, I did not. I did enjoy some of the hard battles, that was awesome and the public events where fun also.

Bottom line is that I could not keep up. If I had to go away for a few days and then come back to the game I was lost and I never advanced. It might be because of my life style that I never got into the game. Destiny is more for the hard core gamer and not the recreational gamer like myself.

Destiny is a world of it's own.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warefare: For me, This is a great Thrill Ride.

Back in August I wrote a blog post that I had questions about how well the new Call of Duty game Advanced Warfare would be in game play. Again let me say that I am 51, and I am not a teenager, but for me I like the game. It has the same grit if not more in the new game as it did in the old games. I am really impressed with the campaign game play. Kevin Spacey is the voice of the games villain Jonathan Irons and is represented in a very recognizable CGI character. I really like the story line that is put forth in campaign mode. However the on-line game play is very different, in some ways it reminds me of Halo, but the feel for Halo on X-Box is not over whelming. It just seems to me that the online game play experience is more wide open. Now while I do enjoy online game play , I suck at it. If I get 20 kills my deaths are always higher. while I do try to improve, it's a game and not life and death like it is for some players.

So over all I am very impressed, and the new game has delivered and answered my questions from my August 30th post

Call of Duty: Advance Warfare Comes out 11/2014: I Have Questions.

I would not call myself a great gamer, but I do play video games to get rid of stress, have fun etc. Because of my personal budget I don't buy every game when it comes out. However that is not the case with Call of Duty: Advance Warfare. I have pre-ordered the game and can nlot wait to play it., however after looking at the trailer of the game I have a few questions. Lets look at he trailer for the current Call of Duty game called Ghost.

This game and the ones that came before in the series has a gritty war feel. I have never been in the military and have no clue what war is about, but a few family members have shared details that don't even come close to a video game, But these games have grit in the game play and it seems believable. Please understand I would not want to insult the soldiers that have died for our country in a hell I can not imagine, I am talking about a video game, there is a huge unmeasured difference. But the Call of Duty games has always taken me back to my child hood when we played with other kids of shoot them up bang bang with our toy guns. Call of Duty made it a little more real with impossible missions and warfare simulations. After I played and had a intense session, I always knew it is worse in real war.

Now watch the trailer for the new Call Of Duty Game calle Advance Warfare

This game looks awesome, I can't wait to get my hands on it, but then I step back with questions. Just like the title Advance Wayfarer, it's more like Futuristic Warfare. There are some parts that gives me a feel of KILLZONE: SHADOWFALL or Halo, I truly hope that Call Of Duty Stays Call of Duty, I hope I am wrong but the trailer for Advanced Warfare looked to clean and not enough war torn areas of play. But I am looking forward to it, especially the campaign with Kevin Spacey playing a huge part in this game, that alone is worth the price of the game. I think he will be awesome. I truly hope I am wrong about the fears of what the future of the series will be. I want Call of Duty to always be unique in game play. I know times change and you always have to upgrade, But Call of Duty Games have always been a great source of entertainment and I want it to stay that way.

One Year Ago Forbes Magazine Said that X-BOX and Playstation Could be Coming to a End

On June 9th 2013 Forbes Magazine predicted the end of console video games. I am not attacking Forbes but using them as a example because they where not the only publication that predicted the end is near for video game systems. But Forbes has a excellent reputation for making business predictions. And it's not about proving anyone wrong or right, OK, maybe it is. But I don't think you can predict the gaming industry with any type of consistency unless Sony and Microsoft would stop making the games system consoles.

The problem with analyst that make predictions is that they are business analyst and not people that play games. In the past few years two games have dominated the market Halo and Modern Warfare and sometimes that is all you hear about and gamers get board. There has not been a lot to stretch that vivid imagination. I have read some of the reasons they think the end is near. I mean come on, while Facebook games like Candy Crush and Farmville can be addicting they are stupid and irritating. I have tried them and they did have a addictive quality, but they do not come close to Video console game play, The vivid graphics and role play that the X-Box and Playstation gives us. I don't like playing games on 2 inch or 8 by 10 screen. I want my 32 inch HD full sound experience. However, I think the counsel gaming industry heard the call and struck back with a vengeance.

ComputerandVideoGames.com reported

Developers in the UK are becoming increasingly interested on working on Xbox One and PS4 games in the near future, with development on mobile and PC set to drop, according to a new report.

Gamesradar.com had this report

The last half of the decade in particular have seen multiple industry giants cease to exist, including former heavyweights like Midway, Clover, and Factor 5. But not every one-prominent name stays buried forever--some press start and continue on with a new lease on corporate life.

The past 7 months the Playstation 4 has had booming sales and X-Box has been playing catch up. To me this proves that people want to play games. That is what they are interested in. X-Box is pushing the whole entertainment control thing with the X-Box One voice media control system they have. It's about the games, not what my game system can do for me. it's about how I can interact with my game system and be entertained in a virtual world. Do not get me wrong, X-Box is a awesome games system and will make a comeback and Playstation needs to know that.
Motley Fool web site gave a positive but yet cautious outlook for console game systems In a interview

Tim Beyers had this to say

I think the message for me is, consoles are under threat. They're doing very well right now -- the Xbox One and the Sony's PS4 are both very good consoles -- but I don't think it's an accident that the Xbox One is much more than a gaming device, because you have these other platforms that are starting to crop up and threaten the hegemony of a console.

It is still more simple, it's about the game and where it can take you. Keep it simple but not so simple or complicated that you lose interest.
