I Like Both 2006 "Superman Returns" and 2013 "Man of of Steel. Is That a Problem?

I must not look at movies the way the most harshest of critics does, cause I can just about find something good with any movie. it depends on what I am expecting at the theater that can make or kill a movie for me. I have went to theaters and been completely disappointed in a movie. It has happen a few times that I would miss a movie at the theater and it would get great reviews and have a strong box office showing and I would rush out to buy the DVD because of hype and expectations and get the movie home and think to myself why did I want this movie so bad, it sucked.

In 2006 the long awaited movie "Superman Returns" came out, I thought it was a great entertaining movie but Critics, friends was not as thrilled as I was with the movie. Ok I will give you that some parts where over done. I thought that Kevin Spacey role as Lex Luthor was just a tad strained, but over all still good. Come to think of it I feel as if I just blasphemed for suggesting that Kevin Spacey ever had a bad acting role. It could be that I hate the Lex character, he just pisses me off. Maybe I just don't like the ideal of Kevin Spacey doing anything wrong. I have no problem with Kevin Spacey playing a bad guy, but I always want to join him on the dark side. I just did not like the ideal of him beating up on Superman. So maybe it was just the perception that I did not want to join him this time. I love the video game series Call of Duty, Spacey was the voice of the bad guy Jonathan Irons in Advanced Warfare , again I wanted to join Atlas.

But on to the movie, Bryan Singer of X-Men fame, directed the movie , Brandon Routh played a convincing Superman. I had no problem with his role as Superman. I guess people had a problem with the story line being to much of a love story with Lois Lane played by Kate Bosworth and the possibility of Superman being a father. I am not sure , but I like the story, I thought it was well crafted and very imaginative.

But moving on to 2013 Man of Steel, all you can say is WOW, Freaking awesome, yes I did like it much better then Superman Returns, but it was a different story line altogether, more action and less story but I will not kick the 2006 movie to the curb. Its just a Superman story that I like. Man of Steel was directed by Zack Snyder who has a long awesome movie list in Hollywood. Again they pick a great actor to play Superman in Henry Cavill who has a nice acting resume himself, Amy Adams plays Lois Lane. And there was no Lex Luthor this time around and I missed him. WHAT DID I JUST SAY?!?....

I don't think you can go wrong with any Superman movie or TV Show including Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman from 1993-1997 on ABC staring Dean Cain as Superman and the 2001-2001 series Smallville, staring Tom Welling as Clark Kent. Both very different series. I guess the worst ever Superman movie had to be  1983 Superman III Staring the late Christopher Reeve and Richard Pryor, it was a horrible movie. The first two movies where the best, Reeve's made a comeback in Superman IV, it was not the greatest but much improved. So I guess you can go wrong with Superman.

We can never forget George Reeves in the 1952-1958 classic series Adventures of Superman.

However , with all that said I only have two Superman movies in my collection of 400 DVD's. the 2006 Superman Returns and 2013 Man of Steel, both great Superman stories. And that is what it is all about, the story. Am I right?

Destiny Was Not My Type of Video Game: I was Disappointed

Maybe I am to old or just don't think like the rest. I only have 10 games in my game collection. That is. because of money, and when I pick a game I have to stress about it for weeks before I make up my mind. Destiny was a impulse buy, because many people I trust was telling me I had to get this game, it's great and wonderful, you can do this and that. They did not lie, there are tons of options in the game. But I still like the one shooters like Call of Duty, Wolfenstein: The New Order, Need for Speed and a good Zombie Game.

While Destiny is awesome for most people I hope that type of game format don't take over like reality TV programs did on network TV did for a while. The big money thing can burn out and lose interest and destroy the fun for all.

I tried to get in to Destiny, but I just got bored and went back to playing my type of games. For me it was just to much and no central goal except to up your level. There is never a end to the game, it just goes on and on. For most of my friends, they love that, I did not. I did enjoy some of the hard battles, that was awesome and the public events where fun also.

Bottom line is that I could not keep up. If I had to go away for a few days and then come back to the game I was lost and I never advanced. It might be because of my life style that I never got into the game. Destiny is more for the hard core gamer and not the recreational gamer like myself.

Destiny is a world of it's own.

Melissa McCarthy Delivers the Laughs in SPY

The days of the Sookie St. James of the Gilmore Girls are a thing of the past for Melissa McCarthy. The woman is a full fledged foul mouth champ, and I say that as a compliment, her use of the F word is like poetry with a punch. But she was no Bridesmaid, or wife of a Police Officer, She was Susan Cooper SPY for the C.I.A, and she was as serious as she was funny.

I enjoyed the movie just for it's laughs alone. You did not know where the next laugh was coming from or who was going to get a bullet in the head. The story line was strong and was not predicable like some comedies, it was not the movie just because we can make a movie which is the way I feel about most comedies. The script surprised me with a original story line.

With the action, laughs and plot it is worth the ticket price because it is a movie to be seen on the big screen. The supporting cast of Jude Law, Rose Byrne ,Jason Statham, Allison Janney, and a cameo by 50 Cent made this a movie to remember. It's a movie to see with friends or a date night.

It's just a lot of fun.

Cable TV is Killing TV

I don't care what cable service you have, in some shape or form it is a rip off, there is no other choice for the consumer except to act in a slow motion boycott and I am happy to know that is exactly what is going on. The reason for this blog post is to communicate to the TV watching community that it is up to us to say no to the cable companies and that includes Dish TV and Direct TV, they are just as guilty.

Now do to the fact I don't have a study job, I guess I should not apply at the companies I mention in this post. I am sure this will somehow show up in a background search. But sometimes you must speak up.

Before I go on my attack on my cable company, lets look at a article I found about the death of TV, I am not sure if I fully agree with the end result they have concluded with but it uses my Cable company as a prime example.

Cord Cutters are the death of TV

I was at the Time Warner office yesterday dropping off my cable boxes and I want to share the complaints I over heard from other customers.

I don't want the phone service I don't need it.

Can I just get the channels I want.

Can I get just the local stations and prime time networks?

Well if I can't get what I will cancel internet also

You know what the response from Time Warner was?

You can't do that because it is breaking up the bundle

That means it is not the customers choice, it is the cable companies choice. it is never our choice. We just foot the bill. Think about this. For this bundle that Time Warner thought was such a deal, it cost 180 bucks a month for a phone service I don't use, DVR, internet and a bunch of extra channels I don't use.

The cable companies are committing suicide and don't know it or refuse to acknowledge it

180 bucks a month to sit a few hours a day and watch a box, If you read my blog you will know I love my TV, but at what cost? Do you know what you can do with 180 bucks a month? Pay the power bill, help with the rent or car payment, buy food? Pay the cell bill which is another over priced luxury that I may talk about in another post, But not on this blog

After spending a hour on the phone, I still ended up paying 70 bucks a month for internet and a few channels, I still have that stupid phone line I don't need and have never used once. I am looking at what I can do next to cut that price down.

And for you other cable companies that may be reading this and don't think your guilty, all of you over charge for something, even the dish networks, and internet charges are climbing so that is next thing to target for a cheaper price. People are learning to say no, so you may want to get in that think tank board room and think about your product and what your selling.

 

Jack Flacco

Knowing what I was going to say in this blog post was easy, but I struggled for a title for a few days. I read many blogs but none get my attention Like Jack Flacco does. I found Jack a few years ago on Twitter because of my interest in the Zombie Apocalypse. I would read his updates on Twitter and go click on the link to his blog and think this guy knows there is more about life then the undead.

He writes about film, celebrities, TV and movie characters. and recipes, food and experiencing life's adventures. I read so much of his blog I forget about his passion for writing about zombies. He has a calm but yet exciting way of the pen, well these days it's the keyboard.

He can catch you off guard and make you look in the mirror and ask questions. He will also have you in the kitchen thinking about how to cook something up.I usually tweet every time he post to his blog, you never know what is on his mind.

Taylor Swift: Not Afraid to Have it Her Way!

When you think about Taylor Swift music, it is easy to let your imagination be cruel. I enjoyed her music when she was in the country corner. Songs like Tim McGraw,Tear Drops on my Guitar, from her first 2006 album. Then there was Love Story from Fearless. Then there was the 2009 event with Kanye West at the VMA's, I was heart broken for Taylor. I just did not understand why that happen. But then in my opinion her songs started to be all about failed relationships. I lost interest in her music and turned it off when it came on the radio.

I don't think I could consider myself as a Taylor Swift Hater, but you could say I was boarder line. Then came the announcement that she was leaving the country label. To me this was a wise decision for her. I just always felt that the country label was holding her back, I can't explain it, it's just a opinion. So my interest peaked a little.

Now we have this album 1989. And I bought my first Taylor Swift album because of the message in the songs. the hit "Shake it off" with the lyrics " It's like I got this music in my mind" I think she explained it all in those words. Taylor loves music, and she likes to get it right and I don't see her as a music star that lets her crew manage what she is going to sing about. I am sure she listens to advice, but at the end of the day she make the decision.

You could say I read all this and heard it in interviews, maybe I have but if you listen to the short but long history of her music you could pick up a pattern of what she started out as to what 1989 is now. To me1989 screams I am Taylor Swift and this is what I am about and what I wanna do. It's like personal independence. it's Taylor saying I am here now deal with it, but in assertive polite way.

I don't know how she should top this album, and maybe that should not be the focus. I expect Taylor Swift to look at it as if "whats next and what will the true fans like?", not not worry about blog writers like me.

It's not so much the music as the Person Taylor Swift saying this is my career, I will take it from here.
At least that's what "1989" says to me
