MY REVIEW
The happy go lucky days of Harry Potter and friends is over, The dark times begin and Harry must start to deal with his destiny. Dolores Umbridge takes over and makes life hell for the students at Hogwarts.

I really like /hate Dolores Umbridge. She is as evil as she is sweet. She is like eating a stalk of Rhubarb. You really want to cause her pain. She is easy to hate. You want to prove her wrong when you get the perfect chance. Harry starts to question his own destiny and power, he seems his determination starts to be challenged, it seems at times his closes friends can not help him hold it together.

We have watched Harry and his friends transition from a happy childhood to a more depressed gang with a clouded future. But even with tough challenges they hold it together. This is what makes the Harry Potter series so great, it's not so much about Witches warlocks, wizards magic and fantasy as it is about relationships and friends.

I gave this movie the highest family rating I could because the series becomes really intense in the last of the movies and books.

MOVIE REVIEW: Justice League

WHAT I LIKED

I like the dark edge that director Zack Synder brings to all of his movies, and he did it again in this movie. I thought the slow start added to the movie. I usually don't like slow starts but they did this well. It blended well with the whole story.

WHAT I DID NOT LIKE

If I could find a fault with this movie, it is the way they brought back Super Man, I would have liked to have a bigger celebration in his resurrection from the dead, but that may have gone against Zack Synders style and I would not want him to do something for public appeal.

SIDE NOTES

Movie received a well deserved PG-13 rating and if your family is into Super Heroes then this is a family movie.  Foul Language was mild, I am not sure why this movie did so bad in the box office but people need to learn to enjoy the story and quit trying to re-imagine the story outside of the writers or directors vision. Die Hard fans can destroy a franchise by being nitpicks and refusing to look outside the box. They need to stop being over critical. I gave this movie a 10 on the IMDB movie scale

My Inside Look at Star Wars Timeline

One of my favorite coffee table discussions is the Star Wars Saga and time line. These story lines are debated with the same passion as any good TV series or movie franchise no matter if you love or hate them. For me I just want to enjoy the story good or bad and move on. Some fans say they say I will never watch again only to crawl back and see whats going on.

With that being said I want to inject some observances not just from me but from people I have talked to. I have been involved in some tense debates about the last two movies , the Force Awakens and Last Jedi.

In The Force Awakens I had problems with the way they killed off Han Solo. I mean his own Son killed him and threw him off the bridge, and the Han Solo story was over. To me that was a bit too brutal. It was like he was a old piece of garbage from yesteryear , lets dump him. As a fan of the original trilogy I knew they might kill him off, but I wanted a bit more going out in a blaze of glory for Han Solo. He was a big time smuggler that became a hero and he deserved a better send off then that.

Force Awakens takes place 30 years after the Empires Defeat and the death of Darth Vader and Darth Sidious. But 30 years later a new threat called the First Order is doing it again to them which pretty much wipes out all the victories of the resistance 30 years ago because they could not form a military to protect them from a bigger Death Star and what seems like a new powerful Sith called Snoke. And Kylo Ren is no Darth Vader. He seems to lack the discipline that his Grand Father had.

Now we come to the Last Jedi. For months and weeks before the Last Jedi, fans where asking who is Snoke? The mystery around him created a fan theory factory of daily out pouring of suggestions of his origins, But with one swift use of the force Kylo killed him, which makes me question my earlier statement that Kylo Ren is no Darth Vader. Will episode IX explain all this?

I will always be a fan of Star Wars, but I am concerned for the future of the story line. I liked Rogue One and I am looking forward to Solo and other Star Wars inspired stories, but there is a new trilogy in the works as we speak. If I am alive I will be watching in a theater and will buy the Blue Rays, unless they totally screw it up so badly that it hurts to watch

What Happen to the TV Media Junkie?

In 2011 I abandoned  my Freedoms Right Network because I was tired of politics and of campaigning. I was just burnt out. So for the next five years I started a new network called The TVMedia Junkie. I just wanted to talk about TV and movies, No problem right? Just talk about what is going on in my favorite TV shows and movies, write reviews, chat it up about The Walking Dead and Marvel vs DC movies and when the next Star Wars movies will be coming out. You get the point.

Things went well for a while, I even spoke on a blog cast a few times. It was truly fun and I was enjoying  myself. Nothing makes me more happier then sitting on my couch in PJ's with my snacks and soft drink diving into my mindless world of TV, or going to the theater with my over priced snacks and watching the show.

But then came election 2016. I understand that we don't all agree on what direction this country should go. But I should not be shamed into thinking their way nor should I shame them. But it's getting ridiculous. These protest against Trump are out of control. It's like they fight to have no responsibility, a fight to have no respect for this great nation or whats left of it. I vote for conservative values but I am not a perfect conservative, I have my liberal moments, but when it comes to my country I aim to the right as much as possible. That is how I want my country to run. I want responsibility. Is that so wrong? I don't care what you want to do in your life or what you do in the bed room, but don't tell me it's normal and please stay away from children unless they are your own. That is what I believe. You can live in your world but don't tell me I have to join you.

With that being said, I found it hard to promote a industry that was trying to tell me how to think and feel so I backed way off of writing reviews and opinions about my favorite TV shows. The fun of doing it was gone. As much as I enjoy the fantasy world, I do not want to live in it all the time. How can I write about how great a actor was in a movie when he was out bashing people for voting for Trump? How can I support a actress for doing a great job in a movie but then she is out in the middle of the street naked or wearing a vagina suit screaming obscenities at the President or wishing him dead or screaming for his impeachment simply because your candidate did not win?

I am not perfect, but I believe in God country and family and the what the Bible teaches. Does that mean I follow the Bible perfectly? No I fail daily but everyday I try to be better. I like My TV and Movies, but I have a remote and I can stop my streaming services and not go to the movies. And I don't have to buy the next Blue Ray. Its my choice!

Hopefully I will start writing again about movie and TV opinions. But I am in no rush. If Hollywood sucks the fun out of watching, then I will lose my interest also 

The Digital Movie Collection

When digital music on the cloud first became available, I was slow to get on board, but I have adjusted to the change and have what I consider a large collection of music on I-Tunes and Amazon Music. But now we have the movie DVD collection going that way and I am still slow to get on that band wagon, but again I am using it more and more and it is now affecting the way I add movies to my collection. for example, if it is part of a series that I am a fan of I will buy the Blue Ray and add it to my VUDU cloud. However, if it is a major Hollywood hit, I might just wait for a sale on VUDU and buy it. I will not pay full price for a new digital only movie to download on the cloud.

The problem with cloud movies is that I don't have something to look at and add to a collection to be admired by friends and family. It does not seem real. When I look at my ever growing collection on VUDU it just does not feel like I own anything. It's just pictures on a computer screen that I can watch anywhere there is a internet connection. It does not feel like it's mine.

The picture below is part of my DVD and BLUE RAY collection, it's part of my surroundings and home decor. I don't have to turn on my computer and look at my collection. It's my personal collection that I take a little pride in.

I just wish that I-Tunes, VUDU and Amazon or someone could come up with a way to make the cloud collections more personal and something to feel and touch.

MOVIE REVIEW: The Green Inferno

WHAT I LIKED

This was one of those movies you never plan to see but start watching and can not turn it off. It did have adventure and strong story line, Greg Nicotero did not disappoint in special make up effects. The man is a genius, he was the reason I gave the movie a chance.

WHAT I DID NOT LIKE

It was very predictable and a basic story line of a Typical slasher/horror movie. I wish they would have spend less time on a back story and just spent more time in the jungle getting chased. This would have made the acting better, the acting was not bad but it was as if they where holding back and I think that was in part of the screen play because the actors delivered on everything else. Over all the movie did not take me away from the world around me, and that's what I look for in any movie or TV series.

SIDE NOTES

I am thankful I did not see the movie on the big screen and will not buy the Blue Ray. It did get a well deserved R rating and I can not in no way recommend this movie as a family movie in any shape or form. I gave this movie a 4 on the IMDB scale, However, Greg Nicotero deserves a 10 for the work he did.

WHAT I LIKED

Over all the story idea was good and made perfect sense because of the world we live in today, I liked the way the movie ended, it had a strong satisfying ending that made perfect sense.

WHAT I DID NOT LIKE

The movie took forever to get going, I thought it was very slow to explain the plot. Parts where very boring in the first hour of a 1 hour 38 minute movie, it was not until the last 30 minutes of the movie that it got going when it started to truly hold my attention.

SIDE NOTES

I am very glad I did not see this on the big screen, I can not recommend this movie and I usally like anything that Pierce Brosnan stars in.

Movie was not rated according to IMDB, but I would give it a weak R rating because of strong language and one sexual suggestion scene, I would no recommend this as a family movie.

I gave this movie a 3 on IMDB and will not be buying the Blue Ray   

MOVIE REVIEW: No Escape

WHAT I LIKED

This doing whatever it takes to protect your family in a situation you don't understand. This is about having a great job but don't understand what your a part of. Jack Dwyer (Owen Wilson) could have been the bad guy in this but clearly was not. If there ever was a movie about what a mother does to protect her children, it was in this movie. This was about being pushed way beyond you comfort zone> Annie Dwyer (Lake Bell) did not want to be in the situation she was in, but Jack was her coach and she was his when he needed.This was the Zombie Apocalypse with out the Zombies.

WHAT I DID NOT LIKE

I am a fan of Pierce Brosnan and I did not see or understand his character except he was there when jack needed him. The movie was less then two hours, and for this action packed movie to much time was spent on the Dwyer family coming for a new job and not explaining why the sent him to this God forsaken country. There was just a a lot of small details that was not explained, but to the credit of the movie, maybe that was the plan to not get bogged down in details , but focus on the family. I am not sure.

Movie was rated R, With a couple less F words it could be a PG-13, but I am not sure if it is a family movie, that would depend on your family rules.

I will give this a 7 on IMDB, I seen this on the big screen thanks to GOFOBO.com , I am not sure if I will buy it on Blue Ray  

My Movie Review Process

A few weeks ago I started looking at my DVD and Blue Ray collection, and thought I have over 400 movies and I do not have them on a rotation. Some of these movies I have only watched maybe one or two times, but some of these are such great movies, critics may have hated them but they are OK to me.  My past attempts to do movie reviews  just sucked, however some of the movie reviews I did where not that bad, so I examined them to see what worked.

I decided to keep it simple, and I made a template movie review plan, not to long or short but simple and to the point. I got a great response, and many hits on the reviews. so I thought lets look over my collection and make a plan.

I made some ground rules.

Movies like Marvel, Franchise sequels like Star Wars and Star Trek I am not going to do reviews. I just enjoy them and I like the fantasy, so why be a critic to a world I like to visit?  I can break that rule if I want, and as soon as the new Fantastic 4 movie is on Blue Ray, I will review it, but I may give a more in depth look to form my opinion. The reviews for that movie are horrible, but I want to see it for myself and make my own decision and express my own opinions. I was planning to see it on the big screen, but my money is tight and I was scared away.

Some may be more open and no template like I did with American Sniper . But most will be template style. When I do get to see the movie on the big screen I will review it as soon as possible. If I get advance screenings passes I will review it before opening day.

As time goes on I hope my style improves, it has been said the more you write the better you get. I hope so because I do enjoy blogging.

MOVIE REVIEW: The Others

WHAT I LIKED

This is considered a horror movie, and it very much is. As I let my mind drift in the movie, I find myself very much isolated and alone and left behind. As the movie gets towards the end I am terrified at the events that happen, but not because of what is seen, but because of what is unseen and what the story reveals. It's one of those rare movies you may figure out and then you are terrified because you was right. You don't want to accept the truth of the story you are being told, but your terrified when the everything is unfolded before you. It's reading a horrible headline in the newspaper and you don't want to believe it, but it happened. And why do I like that? When a movie and take you to the edge and drop you off and convince you it is true and make chills run up and down your back. That is a great movie.

WHAT I DID NOT LIKE;

This is more like what I did not understand, because there is nothing I did not like in this movie. This was a awesome and very entertaining movie

The only part I might have had a problem with is did the father know of the crime that had happened, what did he mean when he said "She told me what happen" what did his daughter tell him? About the mother not recognizing her, or what she did to the children?

Movie was rated PG-13, a very fair rating, there is no nudity or foul language, but I am not sure if this is a family movie because of disturbing and traumatic events.

I gave this movie a 10 on IMDB, it was that good, did not see this on the big screen but I do have the DVD and it will be upgraded to Blue Ray

WHAT I LIKED

This movie gave a brilliant description and visual of hallucinations in drugs. Because of a bad reaction to Vicodin in the hospital after I had knee replacement, I can totally relate to the experience they displayed. I liked the way Wahlberg portrayed Max Payne hard edged I am going to find the answer and do not get in my way, but yet showed his tender side in a flash back. I also like the mystery of who where the bad guys.I truly like the over all story line and way the script was written

WHAT I DID NOT LIKE

The trailer was misleading, I was expecting a more super natural natural movie and not a murder mystery. There is nothing super natural or paranormal about the movie. I was kinda disappointed the first time I watched the movie but liked it much better second time around.

Movie was Rated PG-13, I think this boarder line R, not a family movie because of disturbing images 

I gave this movie a 8 on IMDB. I did not see this on the Big Screen but did buy the DVD, might upgrade to Blue Ray  

MOVIE REVIEW: Moneyball

WHAT I LIKED

I have watched Brad Pitt play so many roles, I really like seeing him as a business man. I seen a style in his character that I am sure was always there but never understood. I seen the maturity in his acting. Maybe I never payed close attention to his acting before, bit this movie brought something out in him I never witnessed before. He was a vampire in "Interview with a Vampire" more less a care free cowboy in "legends of the Fall" and a hero in "Troy" a detective in "Seven" all great movies, but just something I can't explain in Moneyball that I really enjoyed. If anyone else was cast as Billy Beane, chances are I would have not given this movie a chance. Besides Brad Pitt's performance , it also gives a great behind the scene look at what it takes to build a Baseball team.

WHAT I DID NOT LIKE

As a life long Cleveland resident, it kinda broke my heart that he found his assistant Peter Brand (Jonah Hill) in Cleveland, If you know anything about Cleveland sports , you might understand. If we get anything great it goes away, however in the case of LeBron James, he came back but only after winning three championship rings. But That is the only thing I had a against the movie

Movie was rated a very fair PG-13, mild foul langue. could be a family movie.

I gave the movie a 10 on IMDB, I truly wished I had seen this on the big screen, I did buy it on Blue ray

MOVIE REVIEW: Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter

The quid pro quo is that Abe will kill only those vampires that Henry directs him to. Abe relocates to Springfield where he gets a job as a store clerk while he studies the law and kills vampires by night. He also meets and eventually marries the pretty Mary Todd. Many years later as President of the United States, he comes to realize that vampires are fighting with the Confederate forces. As a result he mounts his own campaign to defeat them. WHAT I LIKED 

This was letting imagination go out of the box, what if history happened this was. This in my opinion makes history real. We really don't know how the Civil War was won except to what we are told in the history books. No I am not saying I believe this movie is fact, but if your a fan of the vampire genre you have to appreciate the fantasy of this movie. Because of another movie that came out the same year called "Abraham vs Zombies" that was done so badly, I don't think this movie was treated fairly. I thought the movie get a great cross over between History fact and Fantasy/Horror genre. I thought they made the story believable.

WHAT I DID NOT LIKE

Is that they did not push the story more into the fantasy world and turned Lincoln into a vampire and  disappeared and made him a legendary hero that could be still alive today fighting vampires. I know that is not the way the book was, but how many movies drift from the story in the book anyway? What differences does it make? 

Movie was fairly rated R ,However I think it was boarder line PG-13, depending on what type of horror movies you watch with your family, this may not be a family movie. very scary scenes for younger viewers and some bad language.

Gave this movie a 9 on IMDB, I did see this on the big screen and did buy the Blue Ray 

MOVIE REVIEW: Deep Blue Sea

WHAT I LIKED

It seemed to me that the story was very well infused with the action, When they brought Russell Franklin (Samuel L Jackson) to the facility , to a place in the middle of the ocean and heard Dr. Susan McCallister (Saffron Burrows) tell him that they have a small crew on weekends, something said this was not going to be good.When a staff member said God did not create the shark they had captive and then lost his arm, you knew it was going to get bad, While the shark was a product of Science fiction it brought you in and made you believe it. And it ask that moral question: How far do you go to find a cure for a horrible disease like Alzheimer's?

WHAT I DID NOT LIKE

Who was the bad guy? They did not convince me that Dr.Susan McCallister was that evil. She saw her dad die of a horrible disease, and she was desperate to do something about it. It had a good ending but not the way I would have liked it. I felt bad for the Doctor in the end.

Movie was rated R, very good rating, Not everyone in the family could handle this movie because of very violent shark attacks.

Gave this movie a 7 on IMDB, Did not see it on the big screen, but did buy it on DVD, may upgrade to Blue Ray.

MOVIE REVIEW: Gothika

WHAT I LIKE

This was a well describe trip into insanity. You are in the mental institution with Dr Miranda Grey. You are in that impossible situation with her. You feel her personal fear, it's not your fear but hers. It has unanswered questions from beginning till the very end. It had a great ending and closure which you do not find in lot of movies. 

WHAT I DID NOT LIKE

The path to her answers seemed impossible, I don't see a person escaping from a maximum security prison in that way, yes she had help, but not enough to escape the way she did. everything else seemed believable.

Movie was rated R, I think it could have been PG-13, but can not recommend it for a family movie. depending on your family standards

MOVIE REVIEW: The Day After Tomorrow

IMDB Storyline

As Paleoclimatologist named Jack Hall is in Antartica, he discovers that a huge ice sheet has sheared off. But what he does not know is that this event will trigger a massive climate shift that will affect the world population. Meanwhile, his son Sam is with friends in New York to attend an event. There they discover that it has been raining non-stop for the past 3 weeks, and after a series of weather-related disasters begin to occur over the world, everybody realizes the world is entering a new Ice Age and the world population begins trying to evacuate to the warmer climates of the south. Jack makes a daring attempt to rescue his son and his friends who are stuck in New York and who have managed to survive not only a massive wave but also freezing cold temperatures that could possibly kill them. WHAT I LIKED

No matter what side of the global warming debate you are on, this is a story of family bonding and who your true friends are. It's also about survival and how far would you go to help someone. We don't know what a new ice age would look like because we have never been through one. But I think this movie ask all the question. One of my favorite things about this movie is the slow progression of the storms, and the clues building up to the big freeze. There was the debate between Jack Hall and the Vice President of the cost of not doing anything. You had great special effects with a very strong story line. Regardless of your views how a ice age would happen, the story lines made it a believable situation.

WHAT I DID NOT LIKE

I should say what I did not understand. I did not understand the tsunami on the east cost and the tornadoes on the west cost. Did temps plummet on the west cost also? Why would you drive so fast in a storm that you could not see in that you would crash your truck full of supplies? And are glass ceilings that weak that it could not hold the weight, I would think that that type of glass would not be that weak and would be more then single pane. Those parts kinda weaken the script for me.

Movie was rated PG-13, I think it should be PG, this is a family movie

I did see this movie on the big screen and did buy the DVD, it is on my Blue Ray upgrade list

WHAT I LIKE

I love the out in the middle of no where adventure, I landscape, the post apocalyptic vision This movie takes me away from my world, Yes it was aliens or cloned humans made from left over humans. This movie feels so fresh every time I watch it. I can not put it in to words, The landscape was breathtaking, I just wanted to be there. This movie took me away from my world, and I loved it. I just let my self go there.

WHAT I DID NOT LIKE

I really wanted Julia to get that Jack Harper and not another clone, but it all worked out, it was a good ending a happy ending.

Movie was rated PG-13, rating was fair

I gave this movie a 9 out of 10 on IMDB,

I was able to see this on the big screen as well as bought the Blue Ray, would love to see this on the big screen again

WHAT I LIKE

No matter what religion you are we do not know what happens after we die. This movie is a possibility of what we do not know. It is a feel good movie. I watch this movie on Netflix after a death of a friend or family member. It ask that question of what is possible to change in our lives not so much after we die but in life. It is our decision of how we let tragedy affect us. This movie has a deeper effect on me now because of the main star Robin Williams of the way his life ended. This movie is Heaven, Hell, life, love and maybe even hate, it's the bond that connects us all as humans. You can watch this movie a thousand times and always come away with something different.

WHAT I DO NOT LIKE

I am not saying this is a perfect movie  ,regardless of my personal views or religious beliefs, if there was something I did not like, it's not important.

This is a family movie, this movie should bring forward great family discussion and bonding.

I did see this movie on the big screen, but for some unknown reason, I did not buy the DVD but it is on my list.

WHAT I LIKED

There was a great representation of the events that happen in the Bible with Moses, The grand majestic scenes with the plagues and great shots of Egypt, I really appreciated how the explained how Moses found out who he was. The 3D effects where awesome, I always enjoy Christian Bale in just about any role I see him. I was convinced he was Moses. I was entertained.

WHAT I DID NOT LIKE

It seems that any movie that Hollywood makes from a Bible story, they have to explain how miracles happen. It amazes me with all the SY-FY and fantasy movies that are made , Hollywood would understand that there is something bigger then us. It was like they went to the trouble to make this great movie, but lets explain what happen. The bottom line is there is something bigger in this world that needs no explanation. It's not a fairy tale, Greek mythology, SY-FY, fantasy, it's a story from the Bible.

Movie was rated PG-13, fair rating, it is a family movie, unless you are a strong christian Bible believing family , because young children could be confused by what they are taught in a Sunday school class or family devotional time

I gave this movie a 6 out of 10 on IMDB. It was a great movie to see on the big screen in 3D, but I will not buy the DVD
