MOVIE REVIEW: Fantastic Beast and Where to Find Them

RELEASE DATE November 18th 2016

DIRECTOR: David Yates

MAIN CAST: Eddie Radmayne, Katherine Waterson, Alison Sudol

IMDB Story Line

The adventures of writer Newt Scamander in New York's secret community of witches and wizards seventy years before Harry Potter reads his book in school.

WHAT I LIKED

This was the world of Harry Potter comes to America and America's Magic law enforcement behaved just the way you would think America would, Everything is absolute and no short cuts or so it seemed. The one thing I really loved is the way America non magicals (Muggles) reacted to seeing something beyond their understanding. Americans look at magic with a scientific approach while our British neighbors have a imagination beyond what is known. In other words, Hogwarts in England makes perfect sense to me. I believe the movie explains that perfectly if you understand what you are watching.

One actor I was delighted with was Dan Fogler who played Jacob Kowalski who gives you hope that Americans can believe in something beyond what they know with out going into a panic attack.

WHAT I DID NOT LIKE

This movie was to good for me to nit pick apart, I did not read the book, so I can not compare the two. But it does not matter. When you see a movie based on a book, it is just that, It is a directors best explanation of what he read interpreted to film.

Movie was given a well deserved PG-13 because of slightly intense fantasy scenes

I gave the movie a 10 on the IMDB , to me it was a perfect movie. I did see it on the big screen and will buy the Blue Ray when it comes out

MOVIE REVIEW: Independence Day: Resurgance

RELEASE DATE: June 24 2016

DIRECTOR: Roland Emmerich

MAIN CAST: Liam Hemsworth, Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman

IMDB Story Line

Two decades after the first Independence Day invasion, Earth is faced with a new extra-Solar threat. But will mankind's new space defenses be enough?

WHAT I LIKED:

Over all it was a great movie for massive special effects, I thought the acting was really good and convincing. Over all I enjoyed the movie

WHAT I DID NOT LIKE:

I believe the writers and director tried to hard to recapture the magic of the first film in 1996. The story was weak and repetitive in parts of the 1996 movie. They relied to much on the story line of the first movie instead of creating a true sequel. There was times while I was watching I had to ask myself where is this going and why? However the action in the movie made up for the slow parts of the movie.

Movie was given a well deserved PG-13 because of intense fighting sequences.

I gave the movie a 7 on the IMDB it was not the worse or the greatest.
I did not see the movie on the big screen, but I did buy the Blue Ray, because I wanted both parts of the story.

MOVIE REVIEW; Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

RELEASE DATE: December 16 2016

DIRECTOR: Gareth Edwards

MAIN CAST: Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Alan Tudyk

IMDB Story Line

The Rebel Alliance makes a risky move to steal the plans for the Death Star, setting up the epic saga to follow

WHAT I LIKED:

I have made it a practice never to be to cynical or review movies of popular franchises that I am a fan of. But when I went to see Rogue One I was surprised, it was a Star Wars Story, but it was a bit darker at some points I was so involved with the story I forgot I was watching Star Wars. The story line was very strong, And acting was boarder line Oscar worthy, I have never witnessed this in any Star Wars movie. I was more involved in the characters lives instead of the big picture of what was going on in the bigger story. I am not use to that in Star Wars movies. Yes I know we have the whole Anakin Skywalker family history story line, But Rogue One seemed more personal between the love of a father and a daughter.

WHAT I DID NOT LIKE

I will have to wait till after the movie has been out longer and edit this post so that I don't give away any spoilers. Make no mistake I loved the movie and recommend it strongly, but like any movie fan I have a few questions

Movie was given a well deserved PG-13 rating, Depending on your family standards, this could be a family movie

I gave the movie a 10 on the IMDB. I have seen it on the big screen and will be buying the Blue Ray when it comes out.

My Thoughts on The First Half Season of The Walking Dead

There has been so much said about the declining ratings of The Walking Dead, Is the the beginning to the end? What do the fans want? I will admit it was hard for me to watch the 8 episodes of the show. And I am always saying that this is adult TV. It was not because of bad writing that I took it slow in watching this season, but I am sorry to say I was not use to seeing our Sunday heroes take such a beating and not trying to fight Negan and his group back.

We have seen our heroes take a beating in the past with in their own ranks when Rick killed Shane then they ran into the Governor then Terminus, But it has been heart breaking to see Ricks group more or less be raped by Negan and his group. Rick's group has been helpless in defending themselves and it is hard to watch, which is why fans have stayed away, but I truly believe they will come back. But if your a true fan, you must watch the bad times. I truly need to stand in front of a mirror and tell myself this because I have had a hard time watching every Sunday night.

I truly enjoyed watching the mid-season finale with with Rick finding himself and the group was back together. The hug between Rick and Daryl had tears rolling down my face. This was a family reunion. However we must remember that war always come with a heavy cost. So I am sure our hearts will be ripped out before the end of the season. But our "Hearts are Still Beating" And our heroes will "Rise Up" February 12th 2017

Trying to Make a Come Back

July 9th I said I was was coming back, well that did not happen as I had plan. The good news is that I did get a full time job and things are much better then before. But it is 2nd shift and that has got me out of wack and my sleeping pattern has suffered. But things are looking up. I am putting together a list of things I am planning on blogging about and I will be bringing back my movie reviews. I do not think the TV Media Junkie will ever be what it was, but I am going to do it for fun. My purpose for this project will still be about entertainment, but I am not going to worry about stats. If I have 1 or 10,000 readers it's not that big of deal. Life is good right now and I am just going to enjoy myself talking about entertainment.

So give me two weeks to get the system going again and lets see what happens.

THE TV MEDIA JUNKIE BLOG IS COMING BACK!

Back in September 2015 I had decided to end the TV Media Junkie network, and for the most part it will stay gone, But I am bringing the blog back because I miss talking about entertainment  in general. My Twitter tag will stay as it is and will not go back to TVmedia Junkie, it will remain @PUREdrivenFAITH where I will talk about anything on my mind no matter if it's sports, Politics or Entertainment. But this blog is for movies and TV and will stay that way.

I just had to have some time to chill out and decide what type of presence did I want on Social Media. Movie reviews will return soon. My employment situation has been firmed up and I am no longer working seasonal but now have a year round job.

Now that the dust has settled

I am just going to have some fun with what I like to do, and that is watch movies and TV and talk about it.

Until Next Time
